This clock was born from a self-imposed exercise to see how much could be distorted or subtracted from a timepiece without sacrificing its functionality or legibility. Many designs came out of this, but this one in particular stood out. This is because of its simplicity and surrealistic nature.
Imagine an ordinary clock sitting on a desk next to a book, pen holder, notepad… then, magically, the desktop turns to liquid. All surrounding objects sink quickly. This clock however, bobs for a bit. Then, the desktop surface instantly solidifies back to its normal state. Before it sank, it was an unambiguous, and very legible design so as to be easily be read from across the room. The downside is that it was also very dull and uninspiring. The sudden transformation gives it a new life. This timepiece maintains its minimal aesthetic, but becomes intriguing in its own way.

Sinking Clock has been awarded the prestigious iF Design Award.
